Legal Metrology declarations
The label information the law requires with every packaged item.
Draft. This page has not yet been checked by the shop or by a lawyer. Anything on it may be wrong or incomplete — please ask us on WhatsApp rather than relying on it.
What must be declared
The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 require certain information to be shown before you buy a packaged item: what it is, how much of it there is, who made or imported it, where it came from, when it was imported or packed, and the maximum retail price inclusive of all taxes.
Where to find it
On every product page, under "Label details". It carries the generic name, net quantity, country of origin, manufacturer or importer, month and year, size, weight and material, as printed on the item's own label.
The price shown is the maximum retail price and includes all taxes.
Where a field is blank
A blank field means we have not yet read that value off the item itself. We do not fill these in by assumption — a wrong country of origin is a false declaration, not a typo.
If you need a value that is missing, ask us and we will check the physical label before you buy.
If a declaration looks wrong
Tell us. We would rather correct it than defend it, and a mistake here is ours to fix.
